We’re officially a nonprofit organization!
On Thursday, we received word that our application for 501(c)(3) status has been approved! That means that moving forward, our tax burden will be much lighter, and donations to the Denver Bitcoin Center can be tax-deductible. So if you’ve been itching to make a donation, now’s your chance!
Chad MacDonald, our Manager, says he’s excited about the new nonprofit status because it underscores our mission as a venue that serves the community, first and foremost. The Center’s priority is to be the focus of all bitcoin activity in Denver; everyone interested in bitcoin is welcome to stop by and discuss, learn, code, build businesses, or just hang out. Our new nonprofit status helps legitimize the Center while empowering us to fulfill this vision.
Our Director Ben Ullrich, like Chad, is excited about the legitimacy the new status brings. He’s also psyched about all the exclusive benefits we now have access to, such as Google Ad Grants, a program through which nonprofits can advertise for free through AdWords. This benefit will provide a much-needed boost to our community’s online megaphone.
Our sponsors are also excited about this news, as their contributions can now be tax-deductible. Learn about the benefits your business can enjoy as a DBC sponsor and become one today!
